Sysco Announces 5 Partnerships to Diversify its Suppliers
As the No. 1 foodservice distributor in the world, Sysco buys a lot of food. We buy that food from thousands of suppliers domestically and internationally. Our supply chain is vast: No single supplier accounted for more than 10 percent of Sysco’s purchasing capacity in 2021, according the company’s annual report.
All of those unique suppliers are critical to Sysco’s business. “Our locally sourced products, including produce, meats, cheese and other products, help differentiate our customers’ offerings, satisfy demands for new products, and support local communities,” the company explained in 2021.
That’s why this year Sysco is committing to increasing the diversity of its suppliers even further. In January 2022, Sysco announced five partnerships to support a mission of inclusivity, focused on developing diverse supplier relationships.
Sysco will partner with Disability:IN, National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) to enhance the diversity of its network of suppliers.
“It’s important that every aspect of our business, including our supply chain, reflect the changing demographics of the communities where we work and live,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Judy Sansone.
